Waking up this morning was a world of difference then the days before. I got up and made breakfast for Fariday and I. I don’t usually cook because that’s Fari’s specialty, a real homemaker that one, but today I woke up first and we really need to talk after the mess that went down last night. Fari came down the hallway clad in one of her graphic nightshirts, this one saying #nofilter, rubbing her eyes and feeling what kind of monstrosity her bedhead was. Picking a piece of bacon off of the plate of cooked strips she muttered a morning before she went to go get her cup of coffee. I turned to her and said, “Okay so we need to work this out: get all of our facts straight.”

“Your right, so let’s see. According to what Tolson told us, Senator Groban had Michael killed because he knew about the vaccine cover up and wanted to out him?”

“Yea and the cover up happened in the first place because the vaccine is killing kids in a small portion of the population, but what small portion we don’t know.”

“And who was tailing us last night and who killed Tolson?”

“I don’t know but I still think that Detective Forrester from the night of the accident is pretty shady and I bet he was working for Senator Groban the whole time and probably had him kill Michael too! Who would know how to cover up a murder like a cop!”

“Oh my gosh! You’re so right! It all makes sense.” Happy with our consensus, I turned on the television as the story about the shooting last night came on. The reporter stated that the shooting was related to gang violence in the area. They suspect members of the Sur 13 gang but did not know the cause, nor did the police have anyone in custody. She also said the only person killed was a Jeremy Tolson, and

As I looked at Fariday my response was, “Okay, this kind of throws a wrench in everything.”

“Well not necessarily, I mean they could have gotten it wrong or they could have been right and maybe there was no one really following us and it was all in her head?”

“That maybe true but I would feel more relieved if we checked with Carlos about this just to make sure we don’t get our hopes up.”

“ Okay, I haven’t seen him in a while. Plus he owes me some empanadas from La Cocinera.”

We get dressed and go down to see Carlos. Still a little on edge from the night we keep our eyes peeled for any signs of Forrester. When we got down to Carlos he was just the same as he had always been. When we ask him about the shootout he got all defensive and says, “It wasn’t even us, the cops just needed someone to blame so they wouldn’t have to do any actual work at finding that guy’s killer.”

“Well then who was it then? Were you there?”

“Yea, and it definitely wasn’t none of us.
